Clad in Adidas gear, business tycoon Jacob Mnisi slowly drives his grey Range Rover into a petrol station with a weary smile and orders the DRUM team to follow him.
In true Mafia style, the 45-year-old, who rose to fame in 2007 when he wedded kwaito star Nomasonto “Mshoza” Mnisi (née Maswanganyi), drops off his car for a valet.
Then, after a few phone calls, a burgundy Audi TT arrives and he slips into the driver’s seat.
His phone is constantly ringing but the obviously busy man sighs with relief as he gets down to the reason he has met with us for a chat.
According to Jacob, he has endured abuse in his four-year marriage to controversial Mshoza,
who has lately been making headlines for undergoing skin-whitening treatments.
Recently, the 28-year-old singer and self-proclaimed Queen of Kwaito, was admitted to Cosmo Hospital in Witbank after she swallowed a batch of pills apparently in an attempt to commit suicide amid allegations of infidelity.
And today, Jacob is speaking out for the first time, exclusively to DRUM, about his suffering. “I am being abused and I am tired of keeping quiet,” he says sipping a drink.
“I’m an unhappy man,” he reveals, adding that he has been nothing but a good husband to Mshoza, but all he got back was deceit and betrayal.
