If you yearn for breathtaking sights, a vibrant nightlife and lots of shopping, Bangkok is
the place to be.
Shopaholics will be pleased to discover that Bangkok is known as the city that never sleeps. Everything from clothing to electronics is available day and night in this shopping dreamland. Be sure to pack light when visiting this city – or your bags will be bursting at the seams by the time you return home.
If you need to pick up the pace, the nightlife features everything your heart desires. Enjoy
excellent live music at trendy clubs, cool bars, soulful jazz spots and top restaurants – they’re all safe and tons of fun!
Worried about getting around? Don’t be – taxis are cheap and appear on virtually every corner at almost any time of the day or night.
The Skytrain (BTS) and underground (MRT) rail systems connect the main
shopping and entertainment areas of the city, while river taxis and express boats can be used to explore many riverside historic sites and attractions.
Tuk-tuks, once a big Bangkok attraction, are slowly disappearing in favour of more comfortable transport but are still worth a ride at least once – so be sure to hop on board one of these auto rickshaws.
Other great attractions to see while in Bangkok include the lively Chinatown, which is
packed with colourful stalls, the majestic Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha), which was home to the Thai Kings and the Royal Court, and Wat Pho, a temple that houses beautiful murals, magnificent artworks and so much more.
There are only three seasons you need to dress for while in Bangkok – hot, very hot and
unbearably hot, so get the best out of your experience by visiting the city any time from
November to January.
We’ve put together a short-break package that is ideal for Christmas shopping, together with a full- or half-day tour. On a full-day tour you’ll visit the colourful rural floating market Damnoen Saduak, the
Rose Garden and the Nakhon Pathom Pagoda.
An elephant demonstration, lunch, and a Thai folk and classical music and dance show, are also included in the package. On the half-day tour you’ll have the opportunity to explore the Grand Palace and Wat
Phra Kaew.
