Away from the camera she’s been working hard, cooking waya waya as though taking tips from a celebrity TV chef.
Whether this star is dishing up a delicious umfino or umngqusho, creating a prawn cocktail or rustling up a North Indian curry, she always produces something exceptional.
But a passion for food is just one of the things that makes Lucia Mthiyane the incredibly talented lady she is.
Lucia’s series of star-studded infomercials currently on air on SABC2 have introduced her many fans to a whole new side of her.
She became a household name because of her high-profile roles on a number of TV and theatre productions.
But her latest role as Lucia, the celeb chef, is a surprise and a huge hit.
“I’ve realised people think I have a fulltime cooking show,” she laughs.
“I really wish it were true. I’ve always wanted my own show but unfortunately it costs a fortune – between three and four million rand to produce a full series. But what I’ve got now is great, especially if people see me as a TV chef. Who knows? Maybe it will lead to my own gig.”
